If you have found a suitable offer/request, please contact the person personally, either by telephone or via e-mail. In the further contact, the following facts should be clarified.
In case of a drive made once:
Is the trip really taking place at the date and time which is stated in the advertisement?
Clarify the price: How much participation is desired for the fuel ? (This price should be binding afterwards and not be renegotiated during the trip.)
Where exactly do we meet, this means where and wenn can the driver pick you up?
And where can the driver drop me off at the destination ?
Exchange your telephone numbers (best would be mobile phone numbers)
Where necessary ask questions about the type of car, way of driving, number of fellow travellers, place for luggage, smoker/nonsmoker, and so forth.
To be really assured, just make sure one day before the trip, that the trip really will take place.
If you are not able to go with the trip, call the trip off at the driver timely by phone.
For the creation of a regular carpool you should additionally be aware of the following:
If you drop out once as driver or fellow traveller, please hand the information over timely. It is very annoying, if someone is unreliable.
Agree on waiting time for the pickup.
If you expect a detour, talk about it in advance, so that additional costs and driving time don’t come as a surprise.
The respective driver during a trip should in his/her own car be granted the authority to make decisions (e.g. about smoking).
Keep a driver’s logbook. This facilitates the monthly billing of passengers.
Even if an offer already states a meeting point (like – every Saturday, 7 p.m., Munich main station at the taxi stand, licence plate …, black Golf…): Never show up without prior contact. Call and ask whether the group is really taking the trip this week and if they still have a seat free.

General Rules
Be fair and dependable.
Keep your ads up to date.
Drive with care. As a driver, you are responsible for your passengers as well. Don’t drive too fast.
Keep your car in a roadworthy condition – it’s not just about your safety. Before departure, check if you have a first aid kit, a warning triangle, etc on board. Don’t overload your vehicle.
As the driver, set an appropriate price for the trip. Our site is not the place for commercial offers. You may even lose insurance protection, if the price indicates a commercial offer. Costs vary with the number of passengers and the type of car. A 10% extra charge, in addition to fuel costs, would, for example, be appropriate. Another example: For one driver and one passenger, a rate of 40 cent per kilometre (to be paid by the passenger) would include fuel costs and extra expenses.
If you discover an invalid or outdated ad, or if you had a bad experience with a nontrustworthy person, please let us know. We will then remove the entries in question.
Passengers who want to make sure they’re on the safe side, should ask for the insurance certificate before departing.
