User manual of MiFaZ

In the next section you will find the several functions of MiFaZ explained, which can be found on the left and on the top menu bar:

Registration

In order to use the most features of MiFaz you have to register as a user.It is free of charge and without any obligation. Please choose a username, provide a valid E-mail-address and choose a pasword. After reading and acceptance of the terms of use please click on “Registrieren”, to complete the registration. You then will get an e-mail. By clicking on a Link you reconfirm the registration. You can also register with a new advertisement at the moment.

After having registerred, you use the input windows in the upper part of the screen on the left side by typing in your E-Mail-Address and your Password to login (reconfirm by clicking the button “Anmelden”). With a click on logout from the system you log out. As a logged in user you have a vast variety of new functions which are available in the menu bar.

Start Page/Search

Here you can find by a search in your vicinity (“Radial Search”) relevant offers and requests.
Please type in the starting location by typing it into the first text field.Then type the destination ito the second text field.
You now will get a choice of all offers which are best matching the route searched for, with decreasing correctness.

What is a corridor-search? Our system not only searches for rides that have your start and destination or are next to it, it also searches for rides that are along the routeFor example: Your are searching for a ride from Hannover to Göttingen. Someone has put an entry to MiFaZ with an offer for a ride from hamburg to Kassel. This entry will be found with your search, because this driver can pick you up.
The possibility of entering stopovers enables the Driver to set fixed routes.

New Entry

Here you now can place an offer or a request by yourself.

Most MiFaZ users organise carpools in which several people travel together in a car. You may also state that you would use a cheap group train ticket together. To do this, click in the box “by train (group rebate)”. If you only wish to travel by train, then click additionally in the box “by car”, to remove the check. You may also state that you can transport luggage – or wish to have it transported, respectively. To state this, click in the box “transport things”. If it is a pure courier drive, i.e. only things and no persons are being transported, then also remove the check next to “transport people”.

Then decide, if you are driving yourself (or already have a ticket) and want to take something or someone with you or if you are looking for a driver (or someone with a ticket), who will take you with his him/her. Click on the adequate button.

The next step is the entry of the desired starting location and edestination. Then you choose if it is a regular drive (e.g. commuting to work) or a drive made once (a visit, a trip, a transportation of baggage), enter time of drive and date, check the entry and submit it. Your advertisement is instantly viewable.

In the case that you are not a registerred user or not logged in, you can catch this up at the end of the entry. This is necessary due to the fact that it has to be seen later who has made the entry to enable to get in contact with you and enabling you to change or delete the entry if desired . Entries for a trip once are automatically deleted, if the date is passed. Especially regular drives should be deleted if the offer is lapsed. In order to do this, log in (Input fields for log in in the upper part of the screen on the left side), click on Entries and on to Delete at the desired advertisement. After six months we automatically ask by E-Mail, if the entry is up-to-date and valid.

Menu Bar

The menu bar is visible when you are logged in.

Contact details: Here you can change your name, address and much more
Account: Here you can change your user account, e.g. you ara able to changeyour E-Mail-address or your password.
About myself: Here you can create a personal profile. Show an image of you. Just chosse with “Search for” the image file on your PC and upload it with “Upload”. The image is released in the detail view of your advertisements, your profile and if you are logged in, on the main page of www.mifaz.com in the list of users, which are online. Add a self description or just add some comments about your likes and dislikes when driving. This enables you to find an even more suitable carpool, which is right for you.
Entries: Your ads on a glimpse. An entry can be changed by clicking on change, if something has changed , deleted by clicking on delete, if you are not looking for fellow travellers for that route or submit a succcess by clicking on Report success, if you have managed to start a carpool through the advertisement. This creates a new carpool for you – just look there.
My Cars: Here you can give mor information about your car – including an image. Just searchand find the image file on your PC by clicking on “Durchsuchen”, choose it and upload it by submitting “Upload”.
My Carpools: Have a look on your carpools. You can add fellow travellers and delete, if they are also MiFaZ user. This enables you to have a better contact with them.
My MiFaZ: You can change personal settings, especially your region, in case of a move or a new regional MiFaZ has been recently incorporated to the network which is nearer to your place of residence.

Offers and Requests

In Offers are all entries listet which are suitable for the region by people, who offer a drive. You can sort the lists by different criterias.
Relevant and suitable for the region are all entries with a starting point or destination which is within a circumference of a region (Municipility, city or county) .
More infos about the trip you will get by clicking on “show details”.

In Requests are people who are requesting a ride are listet.

Barrier free access – shortcuts

The handling with shortcuts is especially important for people with visual limitations or disabilities, due to the fact that they can not use or can only restricted use a mouse. They are relying on alternative means of typing in data. Even for all who are liking to work with the keyboard, the shortcuts of the MiFaZ are useful.

0 – zero is the standard for the start page – you will reach the start page with search in the vicinity
n – New entry
1 – One is standard for the help page – You reach help&service of MiFaZ
9 – standard for the contact page – You reach the “About us” (Imprint/Legal Notice) page with a contact form

The shortcuts have a different function according to the web-browser:

Firefox: Alt+CapsLock+shortkey
Internet Explorer: Alt+shortkey+Enter
Macintosh with Safari: Ctrl+shortkey

Please be aware that due to the installation of plugins (which are enhancements for the web-browser) some shortkey may be occupied by the Plugin.

Miscellaneous

Recommend the MiFaZ service to others - Recommend the MiFaZ to your friends. We have prepared an E-Mail-text, which you can change. Type in the name and E-Mail-address of the addressee and change the subject and mail text if you want to and click on "Recommend", to send the mail. You have to be registered and logged in for that action.
